BenQ V2200 Eco- World’s first 21.5” LED widescreen monitor

benQ_led_monitor.jpg
BenQ today announced the official launch of their 24” LED widescreen and the world’s first 21.5” LED widescreen, namely the Full HD 1080p V2400 Eco and Full HD 1080p V2200 Eco, respectively. The new BenQ V2400 Eco and V2200 Eco employ the latest in monitor display lighting, namely LED (light-emitting diode) technology. Both BenQ LED models are superbly engineered with zero light leakage, enabling an ultra-high dynamic contrast ratio of 5 million:1 for intense blacks and extreme whites. This unparalleled benefit unique to LED technology reveals never-before-noticed fine details and near-infinite color variations while BenQ’s Senseye 3 Human Vision Technology further amplifies image richness, clarity, and depth…even in the darkest scenes. Both new V Series models also feature Eco mode for 30% less power-consumption without compromising visual enjoyment.

The energy-efficient, mercury-free LED panels of the BenQ V Series Eco consume approximately 36% less power than traditional CCFL displays. Additionally, the new models are lighter (-14.6%) and thinner (-21.2%) than CCFL displays of comparable screen size, which saves on packaging (+56%) and affords more efficient shipping. The BenQ V2400 Eco and V2200 Eco are certified TCO 5.0, RoHS, EnergySTAR 4.1, EuP Energy, PC3R, and EPEAT Gold, and will be certified advanced EnergySTAR 5.0 in Nov ‘09. The two new displays will be available worldwide starting in China mid-August.

BenQ's M2400HD 24-inch LCD hits Japan next month

BenQ's M2400HD 24-inch LCD hits Japan next month
24-inch LCDs are the new black this season, with new ebony choices appearing seemingly every week. Funny, then, that BenQ should choose to distance its latest two-footer from the crowd by coloring it white -- plus giving it a few interesting features, like a 2 megapixel webcam peeking over the top of a 16:9, 1920 x 1080 resolution panel. That's a bit down from the typical 1920 x 1200 we'd expect on this size display, but it's perfectly suited for all that 1080p content you have lying around. (16:9 is a little rare on a desktop display, but we know how much you hate letterboxing.) An HDMI input will help to keep that HD video flowing, plus there's VGA and DVI-D too. The rest of the specs are fairly tame: 300cd/m2 brightness, 1,000:1 contrast ratio (capable of being dynamically boosted to 10,000:1), a 5ms response rate, and a 3-port USB hub. If you can do without the missing 230,400 pixels this sounds like a solid display, coming to Japan next month for 420€ (about $535).

BenQ Siemens' crazy SL98

Remember this little gem? We're pretty sure the SL98 "reverse slider" went the same way as BenQ Siemens itself -- south, that is -- but there's been at least one more chance here to get in on one of the world's most bizarre form factors. eBay's German outpost recently turned up a listing for an SL98 prototype with a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, microSD slot, and QVGA display -- and while we don't know if we trust the mechanism to work flawlessly on some funky early hand-built handset, how the heck else are you going to get one? Sadly, the auction has already ended -- but maybe, if you're really lucky, the buyer will relist with a premium tacked on.
